Honey Director Statement

Honey is a movement based production that explores the experience of love and loving. This will be a collaboration between directors and cast members to think and dance through questions such as: what does it mean to give love, how can we practice respect with those that receive our love, and how do we learn the “right” way to love other people and ourselves. We will use each rehearsal to talk, write, speak, and choreograph around these themes. We know that together, our ideas will blossom into something intriguing and new. Honey will feature the unique stories, prose, movement, and voices of our cast. We believe that establishing a space where consent, collaboration, and community are centered is more important than any finished product. The title, Honey, reminds us of the sweetness, stickiness, and healing that can come from the love we give and receive.
